The second edition of the event showcases 19 installations that highlight the potential of Made in Italy leather and materials for interior design.

FIVE LEATHER DUETS HIGHLIGHT THE VALUE, VERSATILITY, AND FUTURE POTENTIAL OF LEATHER IN THE INTERIOR DESIGN SECTOR

The combination of craftsmanship and design lies at the heart of Made in Italy and its success. It’s a virtuous encounter that blends high-level artisanal skill with creative design, transforming materials—and the know-how of working with them—into masterpieces. This synergy took center stage at the end of last February at Fiera Milano Rho, where Lineapelle, the world’s most important business experience for the leather supply chain, brought together 37 companies in 19 unique installations. At the forefront were sophisticated and elegant interior design solutions born from collaborations between specialized manufacturers and design professionals.

The Leather of Made in Italy Design
For the second edition of Lineapelle Interiors, leather—along with other high-end materials—was transformed into furniture, wall coverings, materials for tables, chairs, screens, and sofas, even making its way into unexpected spaces of relaxation and intimacy.
“Our event,” explains Gianni Russo, President of Lineapelle, “is a model of design economy, strongly conceived and promoted to help the sector, but also design companies, to perform better.”

New Pathways
The 19 installations beautifully showcased the potential of new directions in interior furnishings. It all starts with the exceptional quality of Made in Italy leather, “which, with its value,” emphasizes Fulvia Bacchi, CEO of Lineapelle and General Director of UNIC – Italian Tanneries, “becomes a source of inspiration for architects and designers.”
“The transformation of Made in Italy semi-finished products into design pieces,” says Maurizio Molini, Creative Director of Lineapelle Interiors, “helps communicate their value, boosting international appeal. From developing new products to identifying new markets, research and creativity form the intangible infrastructure of Italy’s design economy—a system supported by a culture of manufacturing entrepreneurship and a solid training network, both capable of attracting international talent.”

Innovation in Interior Design
The result is a series of projects that spotlight technological and applicative innovations in leather and other materials, offering a journey through solutions for interior design.
There’s the vegetable-tanned leather flooring developed by Oscarmaschera with Conceria Lo Stivale; the Alcantara wall presented by Savio Interiors; the children’s bedroom created by Notte Fatata using leather from Vincenza Pelli; and the Antonio Lupi Design washbasin, enhanced with leather from Certaldese.
Also featured: wall panels with horn inlays by Arcahorn and leather from Industria Conciaria Arzignanese; a wall installation by Mistral Creative Vision combined with metallic finishes by De Castelli; sculptures by artist Guerrino Dirindin set within vegetable-tanned leather walls from Conceria Presot; a screen by Ludovica Mascheroni in leather from Conceria Bretagna; a modular system by Mobi fully upholstered in leather from Conceria Cristina; a seat by Poltronova reinterpreted with hair-on leather from Conceria Tris; and furnishings by Oxilla inspired by 15th-century tonal painting, enhanced by Manifattura di Domodossola.

And more: a blanket by TM Service made with leather from Conceria Dani; wool rugs by Tisca Italia enriched with leather from Conceria Priante; a wall with door by Barausse decorated with leather from Conceria Leonica; a sofa and screen by Dema using leather from Faeda; a movable wall by Dooor with Limonta fabrics; a large marble table by Fuda and screens by Materica highlighted with leather from Pro-fit’s craftsmanship; and a material by Raether, made from recovered leather scraps, presented by Foglizzo Leather.

An Artistic Approach
“Our main goal was to highlight Made in Italy in its essence as a productive process. The feedback we received was very positive. The layout of the installations in the Lineapelle Interiors area followed an artistic and logical approach, designed to emphasize the elegance of the materials and underline the creative effort, as well as the transformative and applicative skills of various—yet always innovative—materials and techniques. The distribution of the installations was meant to build a narrative, presenting a sequence of projects as part of an overarching story of beauty and skill: a sequence of tales, like a book of short stories,” concludes Fulvia Bacchi.
